A proud Vietnam combat veteran, Raymond served with honor and courage. His military service was a defining chapter in his life, reflecting the strength and resilience that would characterize him throughout the years.
Following his time in the armed forces, Raymond channeled his passion for mechanics into a successful career. He became the proud owner of J.D. Collins Auto Parts and Machine Shop in Freeport, New York. Through this business, he not only built a livelihood but also forged lasting relationships within the community. Known for his skill and reliability, Raymond took great pride in every project he undertook, whether it was rebuilding an engine or helping someone get back on the road.
Raymond’s love for working with his hands extended beyond the shop. He found joy in tackling mechanical projects of all kinds—cars, houses, or anything else that needed fixing. His resourcefulness and determination made him a go-to figure for those around him who needed help or advice.
Above all else, Raymond cherished his role as a family man. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jolynn; his sons, Donnie and David; his daughter-in-law, Jessica; and his beloved grandchildren, Brian, Shannon, Sutter, and Raymond. As a loving grandfather, he shared not only his knowledge but also countless moments of laughter and warmth with those closest to him.
